About our pottery

Traditional hand-turned pottery is becoming a lost art. While there are plenty of commercial or professionally-trained artist working in ceramics only a handful are using the old-world techniques...techniques like ours, that have been tried and true for over nine generations of Browns. Mule-powered Pug mills are even more rare, in fact we are one of only a handful of traditional potters still using this method.

Our unique look

We are proud of the craftsmanship and old-fashioned knowledge of pottery-making that has been handing down from father to son since the 1700's. At Jerry Brown Pottery, we believe that's one of the things that sets our wares apart and here's why..

  • we dig our own clay
  • we still use our mule, Blue, to grind and mix all of the clay used in our pottery
  • we hand-turn and meticulously hand-decorate each and every piece of pottery
  • we fire most of our pottery the old-world way, in a brick kiln
  • we use rare and customized glazes for our own unique look
  • we deeply care about our craft and our family's time-honored gift at creating it
